Program: "The Importance of Volunteering" by Sharilyn Darnell

Sharilyn was born in Pensacola, but raised in Fort Walton Beach. After graduating from Choctawhatchee High School, she attended FSU where she attained a double major in Exceptional Child Education and Elementary Education. On completion of her double major she taught Special Education for several years. She then went on to get her masters in Counseling and Human Development. She followed that with working in the private practice until going into FUNDRAISING.

Sharilyn has been vital in our community, as the founder of Children in Crisis Children's Neighborhood. She also founded Raising Chair of the Children's Advocacies Center in Niceville and co-chaired as a member of the Junior League for the Camp South Walton School House.

Sharilyn is currently volunteering with Feed the Need, an organization sponsoring a brand new event in our community with St. Simon's Episcopal Church. An unsettling fact that people are not aware of is that 23% of our community is Food Insecure. This organization ensures all donated food will stay in our community. The donated food will be distributed to the community leaders and non-profits that provide food for those in need

She is volunteering in her community because she is being responsive to an enormous need, following her convictions, and a belief in her community - we deserve the best, but more importantly we deserve the best that is in all of us.

Her agenda is to get volunteers. Why Volunteer? Please go to feedtheneed.life, for more information.

ABWA Invocation

Lord, in the quiet of this hour,
We come to Thee for wisdom, and for power;
To view Thy world through only love-filled eyes;
To grow in understanding;
To be wise and sure to see Thy guiding light;
And thus to know each other as Thou knowest us.
Amen

ABWA Benediction
O Guiding Spirit, Guardian of our days,
Be with us as we go our separate ways.
Help us to feel those thoughts that lift and bless,
To know a closer bond of friendliness;
To see Thy beauty always - every day,
Translated into living - this we pray.
Amen
